A Vintage Shelf

"There is a harmony in autumn,
and a luster in its sky, which
through summer is not heard or
seen..."
        ~Percy Bysshe Shelley

Life is very busy at the moment! Every day I feel like there are a hundred projects to complete - and I usually only manage to get through three at most. :) September is suddenly on its last few days and October is looming. I have already started a myriad of Christmas projects for the shop and for my home! I am excited to share them with you in the future. For now I wanted to post some pictures of a recent addition to my work space. I happened upon a vintage wrought iron shelf during one of my antiquing trips. It was black originally and rather dusty but I could tell that it would be lovely with all of its curls and loops. I brought it home and after a thorough cleaning and sanding I painted it a warm cream colour and it sits above my desk. I am very pleased with how it looks! I hope everyone is enjoying Autumn!

Perfectly Pink

"Pink is a beautiful color,
because it is one of the colors
that the sun makes at twilight
and in the dawns."
          ~C. Joybell C.

Pink, that most feminine of colours and undeniably my most favourite. I like to surround myself with soft shades of pink - blush, rose, nude pink, ice pink, and petal pink - and I like to wear bright shades of pink like magenta and fuchsia! When I am out searching for treasures and I come across something in a shade of pink it's like Christmas!
I recently finished this collage for the lovely Linda. She shares my love for beautiful old-fashioned things (and for pink ;). It was so much fun to make this piece for her!

Dreaming of Paris

"Crossing the Seine, it appears like a wide
glittering swathe of fabric striped with bridges
and flanked by picturesque buildings, while to
the west the familiar shape of the Eiffel Tower
is visible. I reach inside my bag for a sketchbook
and pen. My adventure in Paris has begun..."
                  ~Jason Brooks, 'Paris Sketchbook'

To say that I fantasize about Paris often is an understatement. There are many places that I would love to visit but Paris stands at the highest tip of my tower of dreams. I love to read about Paris and all things French. I have many books about Paris, France and French living. They keep my dream alive! I recently bought a beautiful book by Jason Brooks of his sketches from Paris. These are just a few pictures of my favourite pages coupled with photos I've taken.
