"Our admiration of the antique
is not admiration of the old,
but of the natural."
~Ralph Waldo Emerson
This week has been incredibly busy! I have hardly had a spare minute since coming back from my little weekend antiquing trip. There has been no time to stop and take some pretty photos to share with you so I decided to share some of the beautiful treasures that I brought home with me and have had listed in my shop this week! I was lucky enough to find some lovely pieces of antique European china, crystal, lace, and special vintage accessories! I always gravitate towards the feminine and romantic vintage treasures in soft colours that have that little added bit of charm to them. Roses and pale pink are my personal favourites! What are yours?

Inspiration in Ivory
"Now that the winter's gone, the earth hath lost
Her snow-white robes, and now no more the frost
Candies the grass, or casts an icy cream
Upon the silver lake or crystal stream;
But the warm sun thaws the benumbed earth
And makes it tender..."
~Thomas Carew, The Spring
I love pale colours. I will have warmer hues in my home but the backdrop must always be pale and soft. I had white furniture growing up and I loved the lightness that it brought to my room. As I matured though I wanted something warmer and I turned to natural woods and antique finishes, but over the years I began to feel that everything felt very heavy and I needed a change. Did I return to white? No! I began a love affair with cream. It is still my favourite and probably will be forever I think! Softer and lighter than wood tones but warmer than white. I was taking random photographs with a clear idea in mind for a post today and when I loaded them onto my computer I realized just how many of them were pale and ivory and my idea morphed from one of colour and contrast to a simpler palette. I hope you enjoy these pictures of my inspiration in ivory...

Captivated by Cream
"Our spring has come at last
with the soft laughter of April
suns and shadow of April showers."
~Byron Caldwell Smith
I am helpless when it comes to vintage cream coloured French Provincial furniture. I don't see it very often and when I do I can't resist! Here is a wonderful old piece that I found recently. I plan to move it around for a little while until I find the perfect spot but I had to sit it here full of Limoges to begin with. :) I have also included some pictures that I will be using in my Etsy shop when the "New Look" goes public sometime today!
