"The autumn sun, in wonder,
Is gayly peering through
This silver-tissued network
Across the frosty blue."
~Evaleen Stein, November Morning
I am beginning to feel the first glimmers of Christmas excitement. I know that it will descend suddenly with the month of November petering out and December suddenly bursting through the door with all of its festivities! I like to enjoy it as early and as long as I possibly can. I love seeing Christmas displays appearing in the shops. This week a favourite shop of mine (which is sadly closing in the New Year) was filled to the brim with Christmas beauty. I snapped a few quick pictures to share with you. If you are not yet in the mood to start thinking about decorating these displays will definitely inspire you!

Antique China Cabinet
"November comes
And November goes,
With the last red berries
And the first white snows."
~Clyde Watson
I hope everyone is staying warm! It feels like winter has arrived here - the snow is falling thick and fast. My Mum and I were out yesterday and remarked on what a nice, mild Autumn we have had and then overnight it was transformed! I think we jinxed it. At any rate the snow does help you to begin to get in the mood for Christmas. I'm sure I will start decorating in the next couple weeks. I like to wait until after Remembrance Day before I start (American Thanksgiving is much to late for me although I know a lot of people who like to wait until then:). In the mean time there is a new addition in my house that is very pretty! - A little antique cabinet that has been re-invented. I love the gold details on the glass and the stencilling in the interior. Its round shape is so beautiful! I hope you like the pictures!
I also recently completed a large order of Gillyflowers for a lovely customer of mine and when they were all finished I took a few pictures of them lying all together.

I have also added a few Christmas-y treasures to the Etsy Shop including two beautiful stockings! Be sure to have a look!

November Flowers
"November is usually such a disagreeable
month...as if the year had suddenly found
out that she was growing old and could do
nothing but weep and fret over it. This year
is growing old gracefully...just like a stately
old lady who knows she can be charming
even with gray hair and wrinkles. We've had
lovely days and delicious twilights."
~L. M. Montgomery, Anne of Avonlea
The first day of November dawned chilly and within a few hours the intermittent drops of rain had turned to snow. It was as if nature knew that the time for pumpkin carving and costumes was over and winter could now blow her icy breath into the streets. I always breathe a sigh of relief when Halloween is over and the time to start thinking about Christmas begins. Black and orange are happily replaced by glitter and crystalline colours. In a rare twist though my photos for today are full of flowers! I happened upon little bundles of pale pink tulips in the store the other day and brought one home with me. They feel like a spring flower and they made me feel brighter. I also made some pretty vignettes with a few little treasures of mine including some pretty frames, jars, and a lovely lavender pillow sachet. This little purse drawing was a sketch I discovered in a file last month. It was unfinished but I thought it was pretty so I coloured it and it sits on my vanity now.
