Cups of Tea

"We holiday in the spaces
            of our home------

in soup and conversations
in washing-up bubbles
and zucchini

in doorsteps rotting
and beds unmade

              and cups of tea
              with
              flowers
              slipping..."

                   "Count Me the Stars"

The sky is grey and drizzly today. Sometimes I don't mind the rain if it means I can stay at home and cozy up with a book or a movie and sip a cup of tea with a cookie (which happens to be one of my favorite things to do). I love the quote above from Kylie Johnson's 'Count me the Stars'. I think everyone should be able to "holiday" in their home. It should be a place where the best things in your life happen and where you can be happy with the simplest things. Speaking of simple pleasures here are some photos I have taken of teacups! These are from my Mum's, sister's, and my collections. The little pencil sketch at the end is an old one from the box of my drawings my Mum has kept. Enjoy!

  1. Jennelise you are a QUEEN of the pretty post! Your collections are lovely! You're very lucky to have a mum and sister who love the same style you do. I have four sisters and their idea of decor is the exact opposite of mine.*winks* I see a recurrent theme with the beautiful roses here. Have you seen the blog Chateau De Fleurs? The owner is a rose lover and also an amazing artist! http://chateaudefleurs.blogspot.com/2011/10/fall-color-inspiration.html

  2. This is such a lovely collection ! And the silk roses are very beautiful too. I really like the picture with the box but all your pictures are beautiful!
I like having my cup of tea, every day around 4 pm I sit with one and take time to relax even if I only have 10 minutes.
    Have a nice day !

  3. Those are GORGEOUS PICTURES! Did you take them all? I inherited a lot of similar porcelain from my grandmother. They are so feminine and pretty.
