Picture Collecting

"I can elect something I
love and absorb myself in it."
              ~Anais Nin

I collect pictures I always have. When I was little I had a shoe box full of pictures that I clumsily cut out of Sears Christmas catalogues and British magazines my Nana subscribed to. When I was a teenager I graduated to pretty file folders full of clippings of beautiful home decor, gardens, travel destinations, wedding and party ideas, fashion, beauty, and more. Now my picture collecting has resulted in half a dozen carefully crafted scrapbooks. In these books I collage together my favourite photos and I look at them daily for inspiration. I have shown some of these books to you before! I made my Mum one of these scrapbooks for Christmas and she loved it so much that she began to make her own books and finding and collecting pictures is a hobby we share! (The advent of Pinterest signalled the beginning of a real problem for us - too many pictures to look at!). The photos I'm sharing today are of some of my favourite pages from my smallest scrapbook coupled with some pictures I took and edited. I hope you like them!

  1. What an absolutely DARLING idea! I just love that! Where do you get all of your pictures from....magazines, or do you actually print them off Pinterest? Your books are amazing!

    1. Hi Stacy!
I get my pictures from magazines and books that I cut up and I also buy photo paper and print from pinterest. There are so many places where you can find beautiful inspiring pictures! Thankyou for your kind words!

  2. Ummmmmm. . . . . . wow. I also have inspirational pictures I collect, except these days everything's filed in folders electronically on my laptop. No more cut and paste. I update, reorganize, delete ones I'm no longer interested in, add others and keep adding and adding and adding . . . never ending. Work in progress.

    Thank you, dear lady.

    1. I do that too!! When I am making a scrapbook it takes a lot of organizing. I have files on my computer and folders and a box full of pictures. When I have everything ready I lay it all out and collage one page at a time. It takes a few months to finish a book. :) Thanks Christine!

  3. Your scrapbooks are pretty and organized. I have a few, myself. They don't look as neat as yours. Thanks for giving us the glimpse in your lovely books.

  4. These are so beautiful, as are all your gorgeous pictures. What a great idea to link them in scrapbooks! I love a book that I can curl up with and daydream, yours could have me dreaming through the winter. Fabulous!

  5. Hello dear Jennelise! It was such a lovely treat to see you had visited my reveries blog, thank you so much! Blogging has been pretty sporadic for me for various reasons, but I am very grateful for faithful blog friends like you. :)
This post is gorgeous...and I was just browsing through my magazine scrapbooks today!
I have always loved doing this, (although my photos are not as artfully put together as yours), and Pinterest only fuels this passion, doesn't it?
    Beautiful photos, as always....
I'm off to catch up on your previous posts...
    Have a beautiful Sunday!
    xoxo,
