Antiquing

"Collect things you love, that
are authentic to you, and your
house becomes your story."
             ~Erin Flett

I am going to blog more! ...And now that I have written it down and you are all reading it I have basically made a contract and I MUST follow through! Isn't that right? We will see how I do. :) Perhaps because we are all friends here you will send me ideas of things that you would like to see! (Because that is the real trouble isn't it? Coming up with new IDEAS. We can do it together!). Today I want to share just a few quick pictures that I took over the weekend while I was doing my most favourite thing - ANTIQUING! There is a little town outside of the city where I live that has some very beautiful antique shops. I love to go there and browse their treasures. There are a great many things on my dream list there let me tell you! My favourite rooms are the French Shabby Chic style by CIRCA.

Such a pretty painted desk!

I loved this vintage brass stand! So curly!

This chandelier is my ultimate favourite. It is truly breathtaking!

A Little Colour

"Why do two colours, put
one next to the other, sing?
Can one really explain this?"
             ~Pablo Picasso

The weather is so warm lately it really feels like summer is approaching. I am ready for picnics in the garden, long walks in the evening, and fresh flowers! I am a pastel girl and yet when spring begins I really enjoy seeing splashes of colour everywhere! In my kitchen I especially love to have more patterns. I have started collecting odd bits of china with beautiful floral designs. I mix vintage bowls and plates with new pieces and pretty glass goblets. I love bright tea towels and napkins and the floral place mats pictured below are my new favourite! The other night I was in the kitchen washing a stack of mismatched plates and through the window I could see my little niece playing in the back yard in a brightly coloured "fairy dress". I thought to myself, "Hello Summer! How I've missed you!"

Birthday Wish List

"The world's favourite season is the spring.
All things seem possible in May."
                    ~Edwin Way Teale

Busy like a bee! That has been me the last week or so! It was my sister's birthday and there was a lot of celebrating and fun. I have also been working hard hunting down pretty treasures for my Etsy shop so be sure to stop by and see what is new! My birthday is at the end of the month and I thought it might be fun to compile a DREAM wish list. :) What's on your dream wish list?

Beautiful Places

"When you leave a beautiful
place you carry it with you
wherever you go."
         ~Alexandra Stoddard

Happy May everyone! April was an incredibly busy month for me and I'm sorry that I wasn't able to blog more. What is that saying? - "The hurrieder I go the behinder I get!" I hope that May turns out to be a little more relaxing! I did a lot of treasure hunting in April as you will have seen if you follow my Etsy Shop. I have also been to some beautiful home decor stores lately and seen some spectacular spring displays and antiques so I thought I would share a few of the snapshots that I took while I was out! They are from some of my favourite shops - Heirlooms Antiques, Chintz and Company, Melange for the Home, and even from the big antique show that I travelled to out of town. I hope that everyone is having a lovely weekend!

Me very seriously debating a crystal purchase. :)

Miles of pretties at the antique show!

My favourite case at my favourite antique shop Heirlooms.
