Little Frames and Roses

"...our objects, bibelots, whatnots, and
knickknacks say the most about who
we are. They are as honest as a diary."
                        ~Charlotte Moss

I took some pictures this past monday during a quiet morning. It's one of my favorite things to do! I have a little book that I jot notes down in - little ideas that come to me about pictures I could take or drawings I could do, if I read a beautiful saying, or see something inspiring. When I have spare time I go back to my notebook and pick an idea that I want to play with for a little while. This monday I chose to gather all of the small frames perched or hanging around my home and photograph them. As I got started I realized just how many we have and how unique and special each one is. My Mum and I collect intricate ormolu frames that we use to display photographs or tiny pieces of artwork in. I love the detail in the designs - the gilt and curls that are so finely made. We also treasure antique wood frames with gesso carving or the small metal frames from Italy. We are always searching for beautiful frames very often buying an antique piece of artwork just for the frame it's in! Here is a peek at our collection and for fun today I am joining in My Romantic Home's Show and Tell Friday! Have fun!

  4. I love ornate frames, too - especially the gilded ones that have aged to the imperfect perfection where the once shiny gold is now faded and burnished by time - so delicious.
Your photos and vignettes are stunning.
    Happy weekend
