Alice in Wonderland Tea Party

"Why sometimes I've believed
as many as six impossible things
before breakfast."
         ~Lewis Carroll
             Alice in Wonderland

It's been a very busy week - I meant to do this post days ago I'm afraid. It was my sister's birthday and she decided (weeks ago) that she wanted to have an Alice in Wonderland Tea Party. I have had Valentine's and Easter tea parties this year and she enjoyed them so much she wanted one for her birthday! We spent a lot of time making decorations - she made the two beautiful signs, rabbit ears and tags, painted keys and beautiful invitations. I made the centrepiece with the Mad Hatter's hat, the tissue paper flowers, and playing card garlands. Emma wanted the table to look "mad" with stacked tea cups, flowers, and tons of goodies everywhere. There were sugar cookies in the shape of diamonds, hearts, and clubs, raspberry tarts with whipping cream and chocolate, cupcakes, chocolate dipped strawberries, savouries and more! It was lots of fun! She even dressed up like Alice! I haven't had time before now to edit all of the pictures. I hope you enjoy this little glimpse into Wonderland!

Ribbon Work Wreaths

"I love spring anywhere,
but if I could choose I would
always greet it in a garden."
              ~Ruth Stout

I have just finished a new project! I recently decided to try my hand at making ribbon work wreaths (like the ribbon work hearts that I have been making since valentines day). I was really happy with how they turned out and there are two now listed in my Etsy Shop! Here are a few photos of them. I will definitely be making more. My Mum has requested one for Mother's day which is just around the corner!

Cream and Rose

"The beautiful spring came;
and when Nature resumes her
loveliness, the human soul is
apt to revive also."
            ~Harriet Ann Jacobs

I woke up very early this morning for some reason and lay in bed enjoying the rising sun streaming through my window. I think I am on the mend and hopefully I will be myself again soon! The one advantage to getting sick is that I am forced to have some down time and whenever I have that I draw! I have just added two original pieces of artwork to the Etsy Shop - "Marie Antoinette" and "Evangeline".
I took a few random photos the other day and when I was looking at them I realized that they were all very soft and creamy - of course that could be because most of my house is soft and creamy. :) They show a few of my recent finds - a French Provincial chair with beautiful tufted upholstery, a French Provincial dresser in ivory and gold, a gorgeous antique mirror which I painted cream, and more!
