Drawing Dresses

    I came across a beautiful photograph not long ago that was posted on one of my favorite fashion blogs called The Sea Has Neither Meaning Nor Pity (wonderful title and wonderful blog!!). Sometimes when you see a picture it automatically appeals to you either because it reflects your style, or creativity, or you can appreciate something unique and different about it. When I see a picture I either love it for one of the above reasons or I look at it and think - oh my goodness that makes me want to draw! This photo made my fingers itch for a pen right away, and so I have drawn ten gowns inspired by it and entitled the series "The Evening Flowers". I'm afraid I don't know who the photograph is by, but I have included it so that you can appreciate it's beauty and my inspiration.

     I love to look at beautiful pictures and read beautiful words - they comfort and inspire me and ultimately leave me with a sense that the world is lovely. I love to create beauty and to appreciate the beauty that others have created through their time and talent. Over the years I have learned many things about how to create beauty in a home, or within yourself, and to cultivate an appreciation for the finer things in life. As I have said before my Mother has that appreciation and has instilled it in me and supported my creativity as I have grown up and learned who I want to be. My Nana and Grandmother also have this appreciation, and so being surrounded by women whose elegance and style is so timeless and appealing has inevitably led me to want to be like them. I like to see that there are others out there - however far away - who have that same appreciation and are willing to share it with others. It encourages me in my dreams and goals and gives me hope for the future. One such lady is decorative artist Jo-Anne Coletti whose recent publication "The Feminine Home" I happened to discover before Christmas and purchased online. It is a fantastic 128 pages of beautiful and elegant home decor, artwork, poetry, and inspirational prose. The Yellow Chair

    As you can probably guess from the title this particular post has no real theme. I simply wanted to show you some pictures of this beautiful chair that was purchased at one of my favorite sources Honey B's (see blog list for her blog 'The Buzz'). I love painted furniture (die hard antique lovers collectively gasp) but I prefer it when the paint looks like it is original. This chair is a fantastic creamy yellow color reupholstered in a beautiful soft green fabric with tassels. The lace pillow has been embellished with yet another meadow street rose. I hope you enjoy looking at 'The Yellow Chair'!

The Love of Pink

I love pink and it's no secret to the people who know me - I like to surround myself with it! Quintessentially feminine, pink is the color that inspires many styles from the soft and romantic to the vibrant and playful. I tend towards the softer side of things with muted pastels and a vintage timeworn feeling, but I also love the interest a splash of bright color creates in a pale room. I wanted to share a few of my favourite pink things starting with the beautiful commercial for Miss Dior Cherie perfume which features many beautiful instances of my color of preference.   I love artwork very much. I think having beautiful pictures on the walls makes all the difference in a room. Whether large or small a piece of art is a very personal reflection of your taste and individuality. One of my most exciting discoveries last year was the work of a lovely lady in France named Helen Flont. Her paintings are sold on Etsy and Ebay and are truly beautiful. Here are some photos of the two paintings we purchased last year from Helen. The first is called 'La Rose D'Emma' and the second 'Interieur Parisien Petit Salon Aubusson II'.
