     Whenever I look at decorating books or magazines I am always searching for that combination of colors and objects that together create an ambience of romance. Soft colors, the presence of flowers indoors and outside, nothing severe or geometric -- it's not always easy to find! Sometimes I can pick out articles and photos I will like by their headings: French, Romantic, European, Feminine, Rose, etc. When I happened upon the website and blog My Paris Flea Market it was obvious just from the name that I was going to love it! I wanted to share a few photos from both the shop and the gorgeous blog My Paris Flea Market Diary and give you a little taste of the romantic french decor displayed there. It is so gorgeous! Enjoy!

Decorating with Gold

     Gold is a color that often suggests opulence -when one thinks about decorating with gold it sometimes conjures up images of grand eighteenth century drawing rooms with vaulted ceilings and gilt panelling, detailed ormolu clocks and furniture accented in intricate brass and gold, carved gilt frames housing magnificent portraits, candelabras with glittering crystals, and so much more. Gold is a rich and resplendent color that naturally draws attention. It was used for that very purpose in palaces and estates of past centuries. Today, using gold in a room doesn't have to signal luxury or affluence - it can be softened when paired with light and simplicity. Gold tones can brighten a room or add a point of interest. Here are a few photos of some beautiful gold objects that I love and have incorporated into my decor. I love antiques so most of the pieces that I have in gold or brass colors have an old-world feeling to them that I always find just a little bit magical. I hope you like the pictures!

    Today I want to share another of my favorite new blogs! It is so incredibly beautiful! Every photograph is very soft - it takes your breath away. Simply Me showcases a gorgeous home inspired in decor by Rachel Ashwell whose 'Shabby Chic' line and decorating books are among my favorites! Everything at Simply Me is light and airy with beautiful vintage textures that add character to the simplicity of each room. I love all of the beautiful fresh flowers and faded linens! My favorite photos, however, have to be the perfect displays of vintage gowns and tops that Simply Me has in so many of her pictures. So very, very pretty!
