Cream and Blush

"Autumn seemed to arrive
suddenly that year. The morning
of the first of September was
crisp and golden as an apple."
              ~J. K. Rowling
                Harry Potter
                and the Deathly Hallows

Autumn definitely arrived suddenly and then what did I wake up to this morning but...snow. Yes you heard me right. I'm hoping it was a freak storm. It was very strange to see the trees - many of which are still full and green - covered in white. My sister who was visiting today said that she loved the weather. It made her feel cozy and her favourite thing in the world was to stay in on a day like today. I like that feeling too but I'm also not quite ready to put away my little jacket and opt for a heavy winter coat just yet.
I think my favourite combination of colours is cream and blush. Nothing could be more romantic. I took some photos the other day of some new additions to the soft creamy decor in my home. The dresser was a wood finish before it was painted a beautiful warm cream colour to match the vanity it sits beside.

Also a few new items in the Etsy Shop!

Etsy Favourites

"The home should be the
treasure chest of living."
            ~Le Corbusier

I was thinking the other day how incredible the Etsy marketplace is. You can find so many unique and beautiful treasures and the atmosphere is so friendly and personal! I have discovered so many favourite shops over the years and shared quite a few with you here! This year I seem to have discovered so many I thought I would give you a little tour of a few of my new favourites. I hope you will visit them to see more of their fabulous treasures! Elegant and Old Fashioned

"Tis the last rose of summer,
Left blooming alone;
All her lovely companions
Are faded and gone."
         ~Thomas Moore

It is September and I can't believe it. Summer is wafting away and the cool breeze tells me that Autumn is just around the corner. I will enjoy the last of the sunshine and summer fruits though and pretend that I don't notice the falling leaves on my street - at least until Thanksgiving is here and there is glorious apple pie to soften the blow. I have been taking pictures the last day or two just to here the click of the shutter. I didn't have any ideas when I started but I think these vignettes are pretty and romantic and tell a little story about my love for elegant, old fashioned things. I hope everyone had a wonderful long weekend and although I might not feel it I will wish it for everyone - Happy September!
