A Little Glimpse

    You may remember these two drawings from past posts. I have decided to offer them for sale! If you are interested you can contact me through my etsy store or facebook page (link on the side). The pink ballgown I drew for the post "Movie Costumes" when my sister and I went to the exhibit of film costumes at our local museum. It is the ballgown that Emmy Rossum wears in Phantom of the Opera. The second drawing I was inspired to do when I saw a beautiful photograph of a designer dress hanging from a drippy crystal light fixture. Both drawings are done in copic fineliner pen, copic markers, pastels, and detailed with silver and 18k gold pens. As an advance preview offer for my blogging and facebook friends I am selling these as a pair for $35.00! - in a week I will add these two originals as a pair on my etsy store for $50.00.

Also for fun here is a little glimpse of some random photos I took this week of my bedroom (looking a little less tidy than usual) and me drawing at the dining room table.

Tatting

      Finally my week is over now and I have some relaxing to do! I have been wanting to post about tatting for a little while now and was only just able to take the pictures. Tatting is one of my favorite kinds of lace and I have amassed a small collection of it over the years. I have vintage and brand new pieces and I display them everywhere! Tatting is a kind of lace that is made with knots and loops in different patterns and it dates to the early 19th century. In England it is called knotting and in France it is known as frivolite. As far as I know 'tatting' is the American term. I find it to be very ethereal and delicate with it's patterned chains and loops and I tend to put it on top of other kinds of lace as an extra pretty layer. My two favorites are the pink tatting doilies and they were both made by a very talented lady who has a lovely ebay shop. I have also drawn a new little doodle for fun. I didn't really know what it would be when I started but this was the finished product...

French Decor

     Why do we love french things? For me it is almost an obsession! French antiques, french decor, french fashion, books, music, photographs, buildings, street lamps, food, and the unmistakable presence of french femininity - all of these things fascinate me! If I round the corner of a shop and standing before me is a piece of furniture with rare curved lines and gold detail I know immediately that it is french. Nothing else comes close to the beauty of french antiques and decor. My Mum and I are constantly on the hunt for these treasures! This summer my Mum happened (completely by chance in one of those extraordinary and thrilling moments of discovery) upon an incredible french piece. A beautiful cabinet on tall legs with gorgeous gold designs all over it's perfect creamy surface! We were in raptures! I have been working on this little photoshoot for awhile - never quite convinced that I have perfectly captured how pretty our french room looks now. I added a few things for the pictures like my beautiful white chair with the GORGEOUS ruffled throws from Shabby Fufu, the small flower back chair, the antique gold frame, french china, and drippy crystal candelabra. Ici, c'est notre beau français chambre!
