Decorating with Black

"Ghastly grim and ancient raven wandering from the nightly shore-
Tell me what thy lordly name is on the Night's Plutonian shore!'
Quoth the raven, 'Nevermore.'"
                                   ~Edgar Allan Poe

I told myself that black was definitely not one of my favorite colors and then I went to my closet and realized just how much of my wardrobe consists of black silky skirts, black dresses, blouses, and tops. My most favorite necklace is an Edwardian lavalier with an onyx oval in the center. I also tend towards black shoes and purses because they go with everything. Black can be a very elegant shade - fascinating in its simplicity. When I started searching I found that there were many beautiful black items to decorate your home and yourself with. Sometimes the appeal is in the fact that black can be a little bit stark and eye-catching. I have gathered some wonderful pictures of black items from etsy - pieces of art, furniture, accessories, jewelry, and more that I hope you will enjoy looking through. Maybe you will even be inspired to add that singular black piece to your decor or wardrobe. I have also included a picture I drew for my sister of Wednesday Addams from the Addams family and a youtube recording of Natalia Kills reciting Edgar Allan Poe's The Raven. I also just want to say thankyou to everyone who left me lovely comments about my Costumes! It was so wonderful to read them all and hear what you had to say - I was very touched! Thankyou to the people who visited for the first time too! Have a great weekend!

  15. These pictures are so cool. The first black frame was my favorite. I collect frames, and I want that one! The necklace is so unique, and the fan is beautiful. I, also, add black to my wardrobe. It's such an elegant color to wear. Jess has alot of black and red decor in her house, and it looks wonderful. I really enjoyed these pictures. Thanks for sharing them.
