Marie Antoinette now know her forever."
~Grace Greenwood
I know this post is horribly late but I hope that the amount of pictures and the work that I have put into them will make up for it. The reason I am so late is because last week was my birthday and it was a marvellous, exciting, busy, busy, busy week! To celebrate I brought one of my little fantasies to life and had a Marie Antoinette party! I spent days getting ready - decorating, planning the goodies, and most of all preparing for the photo shoot that I have desperately wanted to do for ages now! My sister and one of my dear friends came over in the afternoon before the party and we adorned ourselves Marie style -which was SO MUCH FUN!!! I found beautiful curly feathers and we each had a sizeable pile of lacey clothes to select our outfits from. We spent hours on our hair and then added the finishing touches including nearly every piece of jewelry I owned, ribbons, flowers, hair ornaments and handmade fripperies. It was one of the best birthdays I have ever had! I took over 400 pictures!!! I hope you like looking through this small sample of our festivities...

ReplyDeleteI'm a little in love with that long lace waistcoat type thing, it's gorgeous.

Oh Jennelise You are Just TOO adorable~! Why can't I have neighbors or friends like you around??!! I would have love to have done something like this and the plans I made with another woman to do this for a Marie Antoinette Tea Party in the Garden Under the Gazebo, didn't pan out and I'm always wanting to do things like this and no one has enough magical spirit in them to follow through. This looks like you had an amazing time and I'm sooo happy for you that it worked out this way and I get to see someone having fun like this! I love it!! I cannot tell you how much I enjoy looking at all these pictures, experiencing some of this like doing the hair ''for hours'' and putting pretty things in them, as I love to have fun with my hair too, it is very long! and wearing flowers in it almost every day. I will look more at these pictures you put so much work into and experience vicariously the fun all of you had in doing this. I love the garden pictures too and wonder what is the white flowering bush there? Loving flowers here too.....How lovely is this post, thank you for doing this. Love it! :D:D: :D lady.
ReplyDeleteHaha! Well I have been wanting to do this for awhile too and the amount of planning and preparation always held me back. It was totally worth it though. :) I think the flowers in the garden you are talking about are actually from our crabapple trees which are in blossom right now. It was perfect timing for the photos. Thanks for stopping by and for your lovely comment!

Amazing photography and such lovely ladies and outfits. I love all the beautiful lace and deserts. Just made macaroons myself this past weekend and are they ever so good. I had never had them. Your party is simply beautiful and you can tell fro the photos that there was much love, time and sweetness put in to your party. I know what it takes to put all that together and then to take photos and share them with everyone. Thank you for sharing your beautiful party. Hugs, Beverly

ReplyDeleteHi Jennelise,

Best greetings, Johanna
Hi, Jenn: What a delightful post! What a great idea of celebrating Marie Antoinette and your birthday! Even your chandelier got to play dress-up. I love theme parties, having planned quite a number of them myself. They involve a lot of thought, planning, preparation. But it's a labor of love, I always say. Years, and I mean many years later, all 3 of you will reflect and say, "remember the Marie Antoinette party we had"? Believe it or not, you'll be recalling every single detail, every single stitch. And your laughter will begin all over again. That's what memories are made of.
ReplyDeleteThe pose on the sofa - very coquettish! Love it!
The chocolate goodies - oh, goodness gracious!
The smiles on your faces - priceless!
Happy belated birthday and thank you for sharing your wondermous day.
P.S. How are you going to top this year's beautiful theme next year? Oh well, we'll worry about it tomorrow. (as Scarlet O'Hara would say.)
Your Mom introduced me to your blog and Etsy account today when she came for a visit. Just having visited Versailles, Vaux le Visconte and many flea markets, may I suggest that you and your Mom take a trip to Paris? You will feel like you have come home. I have only begun to skim through all of these posts and pictures. What a wonderful theme party!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to You!! I love Marie Antoinette and your party was gorgeous!! Pretty everything!! Take care, Darlene
